The Rheumatology Unit is dedicated to the care of adult patients with systemic inflammatory rheumatic and autoimmune diseases, osteoporosis, cancer-treatment induced-bone loss, Paget’s disease of bone and metabolic rare bone diseases.

The Unit has developed a special competence over time on chronic arthritis, systemic sclerosis, fibromyalgia syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, osteoporosis and related bone diseases. 

The Unit collaborates actively with the colleagues of the basic research area in order to develop clinical and research activities in parallel.

The Unit is also connected to other Clinical Units in particular Orthopedics, Radiology, Pain Therapy Centre, Physiatry in order to be able to approach the diseases of interest in a multi-disciplinary way.

The Unit also owns a dedicated Clinic, directed by a Medical Doctor specialized in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, for patients with cancer treatment-induced bone loss, pre-menopausal osteoporosis and rare bone disorders.
