Maxillofacial surgery deals with conditions raging from facial deformities, maxillary atrophies, sinusitis to cysts, odontogenic tumors, salivary gland disorders, and facial trauma. Candidate patients for Facial Deformity Surgery (Orthognathic Surgery) are those who have functional problems of dental malocclusion often associated with dysmorphia of the facial bones, or snoring patients as in obstructive sleep apnea syndromes (OSAS). The purpose of this procedure is to restore the chewing, harmonize the aesthetic characteristics of the face and in OSAS, by advancing the jaws, increase the respiratory space and decrease the number of apneas.
Nasal and Paranasal Sinus Surgery treats patients with breathing difficulties resulting from incorrect development or trauma of the nose through septum-turbine-plastic interventions, performed in day hospital. Often, these patients also present a maxillary sinuses inflammation which may also be a consequence of dental pathologies; thanks to the aid of endoscopy, this pathology can be resolved with the most modern techniques and with less discomfort for the patient.
In patients suffering from the lack of teeth and bone atrophy (bone loss) in the jaws Atrophic Jaw Surgery (Pre-prosthetic Surgery) is required. Rehabilitation can range from zygomatic implantology (also with digital surgical guidance) to advanced bone or mucosal grafting techniques.
