- Improve and equip services available at Azadi Hospital and Mental Health Centre according to international standards.
Background of the Project
The project was designed and developed according to WHO's strategy to respond to the ongoing humanitarian crisis, supporting Duhok's Directorate-General of Health in strengthening its capacity to provide quality mental health and psychosocial support to IDPs, Syrian refugees and the host community. Funded by the World Health Organisation.
Technical capacity of Duhok DGoH staff to monitor, promote and coordinate mental health services was enhanced, in particular through the set up of a new dedicated department, with trained staff. SOPs/guidelines related to mental health services and refertral paths have been drafted and approved. Renovation works were also carried out to set up a mental health emergency service both at Domiz 2 and Bardarash camps.
