Under the strict guidance of Prof. Falini Andrea, our professionals also carry out interventional neuroradiology treatments, such as trombectomy, placement of stents, coils, injection of embolizing particles, vertebroplasty, applied to the skull, brain, spine, and bone marrow.

Neuroradiology Unit works with patients of all ages. An ad hoc path for children who have to face an MRI was created to prepare them to face the exam with serenity. The project is called “Training course for little astronauts”, which simulates an adventure in space to help children and their families deal with the anxiety and fear.

The Unit is equipped with the most advanced diagnostic equipment and highly specialized staff, assisted by technicians, nurses, and auxiliary personnel with great professionalism and experience in the sector.

Research

Research at the Ospedale San Raffaele’s Neuroradiology unit focuses on pioneering advanced MRI techniques for the central nervous system, such as high-resolution fMRI for motor and language function studies, brain connectivity analysis, and MRI-based assessments of normal and abnormal brain development. Further areas of investigation include evaluating gene therapy in pediatric rare diseases, tumor biology characterization, early diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases, and applications in inflammatory, demyelinating, and optic nerve pathologies.
