Sarah Marktel

Biography

Dr. Sarah Marktel is responsible for the treatment of patients with hereditary anemia in the Operative Department of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele under the supervision of Professor Fabio Ciceri.

After graduating in 1997 from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, she specialized in Hematology in 2002 at the University of Pavia. Over the years, she has been undergoing various internships abroad, in particular, at major London University hospitals (Membership Royal College Physicians, London, UK).

Dr. Marktel helps hematological patients in their treatment in the hematology day hospital, in particular patients with leukemia, myeloma, spinal cord aplasia and congenital anemia. This also includes patients who have undergone autologous and allogeneic bone marrow transplantation during their treatment.

As for research activities, she is mainly engaged in gene therapy of thalassemia.

She is the author and co-author of more than 70 publications in industry scientific journals. She constantly participates in national and international congresses of the industry.
