Biography

Dr. Patrizio Caldora is the head of the Department of Robotic Prosthetic Surgery at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, Italy.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna with a grade of 110/110 cum laude, he specialized in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Bologna with a grade of 70/70 cum laude.

Dr. Caldora was a full-time, tenure-track Hospital Aide Corresponsible from 1995 to 2005 in Division II of Orthopedics and Traumatology - Oncologic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Orthopedic Trauma Center of Azienda Ospedaliera Caregg, Florence.

From 1997 to 2002, he held the position of Orthopedic Surgeon in charge of osteo-articular explantation and transplantation activities at Azienda Ospedaliera Caregg, Florence.

Since 2005, he has been Director of Complex Structure of Orthopaedics and Traumatology AUSL 8 of Arezzo, Presidio Ospedaliero Valdichiana S. Margherita di Cortona (Ar).

Dr. Caldora, since 2009, has been the Director of Complex Structure of Orthopaedics and Traumatology AUSL 8 Arezzo, Presidio Ospedaliero S. Donato di Arezzo, where he is in charge of and organizes Orthopaedic Robotic Surgery, which involves the use of the Robot for the implantation of hip and knee joint replacements.

In 2014, both surgical activity and data collection began for a validation and economic evaluation study of the technique (CORA study: robot-assisted orthopedic surgery).

Since 2016, he has been the Homogeneous Area Director of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Southeast Tuscany Vast Area.

In 2019, he became a freelancer and organized a group of 9 freelance orthopedists called Caldoragroup.

Dr. Caldora was Professor of Musculoskeletal Trauma in the Master of Emergency Medicine at University of Florence twinned with Harvard Univerity from 2005 to 2007.

He is also the editor (Baldini A, Caldora P) of an English-language book on peri-operative medicine of prosthetic surgery.

He has published 14 book chapters and 193 articles in Italian and foreign scientific journals.

He has participated in more than 200 Italian and foreign congresses, scientific meetings or educational courses as a speaker, moderator or instructor.

He is a member of SIOT (Italian Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology), SIAGASCOT (Italian Society of Arthroscopy Knee, Upper Limb, Sport, Cartilage, Orthopaedic Technologies), ISG (Italian Sarcoma Group), SIdA (Italian Hip Society), OTODI (Hospital Orthopaedists and Traumatologists of Italy).
