Maurizio Bignami

Professor Maurizio Bignami is an otolaryngologist at the Casa di Cura La Madonnina and Director of the Otolaryngological Complex Operative Department at Ospedale Sant’Anna in Como.

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Pavia (1997), Professor Bignami specialized in otolaryngology at the clinic of the same university (2001).

Regarding his academic career, in 2005 he was a researcher at the University of Insubria, and since 2014 he has been a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Insubria.

During his career and professional training, the Professor also studies abroad in:

• Free University of Brussels,
• Center for Anatomy and Cell Biology (University of Vienna),
• Face and Neck Surgery in Paris.

During his surgical practice, Bignami has performed about 10,000 procedures, which is the result of collaboration with multidisciplinary teams of neurosurgery and maxillofacial surgery, for the treatment of pathologies:

• maxillofacial region
• paranasal sinuses
• skull bases
• cellaric and parasellar regions

In recent years, he has been interested in and devoted himself to the problems of the paranasal sinuses and the base of the skull in the field of inflammatory, malformative and oncological pathology in both adults and children.

This interest has led to a significant number of 90 publications in influential journals and participation in more than 200 national and international congresses as a speaker. His Hirsch Index is 22.
