Massimo Lombardi

Biography

Dr. Massimo Lombardi is the Head of the Multimodal Cardiac Imaging Service at the Policlinico San Donato Clinical Research Institute in Milan. Since 2014, he is the Visiting Professor at the Vita Salute San Raffaele University in Milan at the School of Specialization in Cardiology.

From 1994 to 2013, he worked at the Fondazione Toscana Gabriele Monasterio Hospital in Pisa, where he held the position of the Head of the Integrated Department of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging. He gained extensive professional experience working abroad, at Children’s Hospital in Boston and the Center for Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Trondheim (Norway).

He is a founding member of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, Associate Editor of the Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine, the member of the Editorial Board of The European Heart Journal and European Heart Journal and Cardiovascular Imaging and Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance.

Dr. Lombardi is the author of 185 scientific papers on echocardiography and cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging published in peer-reviewed journals (Impact Factor is 41). He is the author of 20 articles in scientific books, editor of publications “The EACVI Textbook of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance” (M. Lombardi, S. Plein, S. Petersen, C. Bucciarelli-Ducci, E. Valsangiacomo-Buechel, C. Basso, Victor Ferrari. Oxford University Press, 2018) and “MRI of the heart and blood vessels” (English edition of MRI of cardiac and Vessels, Springer-Verlag, Milan-Berlin, 2005-2006).

He has participated in numerous national and international congresses as chairman of scientific sessions and guest speaker.
