Francesco De Cobelli
Professor Francesco De Cobelli is the Head of the Department of Radiology at the Ospedale San Raffaele Clinical Research Institute in Milan, as well as Full professor in Radiology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. In addition, he is the Director of the School of Specialization in Radiology, Co-Director of the International PhD Doctorate in Clinical and Experimental Medicine at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and part of Research Units in Clinical and Experimental Radiology at the Center for Experimental Imaging at San Raffaele Clinical Research Institute.
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan in 1991. During this period, he also studied as a fellow in the United States at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, USA. He specialized in Radiology at the University of Milan in 1995 and began his clinical career in San Raffaele in 1996 at the Radiology Department where he later became the Unit Head of the Magnetic Resonance service while receiving his nomination as Professor, first adjunct and then full. As of the same year, he is Director of the Radiology Department of Ospedale San Raffaele Clinical Research Institute.
Professor De Cobelli’s main areas of clinical and research include magnetic resonance imaging, abdominaland pelvic radiology (in particular hepatobiliary and pancreatic tumors, tumors of the stomach and esophagus, colon and rectum cancers and renal and prostate malignancies), cardiac imaging and interventional radiology in oncology (Interventional Oncology). His scientific research is mainly focused on detection and characterization of oncological imaging and the use of imaging as a non-invasive biomarker for the evaluation of treatment response and has been involved in the validation of radiomic algorithms as add-on quantitative tools in aiding diagnosis and describing diseases He is currently the principal investigator and co- investigator in numerous national and international clinical trials.
Professor Francesco De Cobelli is author of 395 scientific articles published in national and international journals with an H index (Scopus) of 55 and 14,193 citations (Google Scholar: 63 index and 17,167cit). He is invited speaker in national and international meetings, and scientific member in International symposia. According to a recent adjournment published by PLOS Biology in 2023, has been ranked in the top 2% of Top Scientists worldwide in their research field (Imaging).
