Federico De Marco

Biography

Dr. Federico De Marco is a cardiologist at the Clinical and Interventional Cardiology Unit of IRCCS Policlinico San Donato.

In 2001, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan, where in 2005 he obtained specialization in Cardiology.

Then, he completed a two-year training period at the Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud, a world-leading center for transcatheter and endovascular treatment of heart disease.

In 2008, he obtained Doctor’s Degree in Cardiovascular Pathophysiology at the University of Milan.

For over ten years, he has been involved in endovascular interventional procedures in the structural field, for which he is internationally recognized, with particular interest in the treatment of cardiac valvulopathy.

Dr. De Marco is the head of the Department of Structural Interventional Treatment in Cardiology at Policlinico San Donato.

He performs TAVI implantation of the aortic valve, mitral and tricuspid valve repair and replacement. He also performs innovative interventions for congenital heart defects, such as foramen ovale pervio, and other interventional therapies such as left atrial fibrillation closure.

As primary operator and responsible operator, he has performed more than 3,000 operations for structural heart disease, also visiting foreign institutes to teach and illustrate these techniques. In addition, he has 15 years of experience in the treatment of complex coronary artery disease with angioplasty, using the most advanced technologies in this area.
