Biography

Professor Cristina Colombo heads the Department of Affective Disorders at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, and is also a professor of psychiatry at the Vita Salute San Raffaele University. There she also holds the position of Director of the School of Specialization in Psychiatry and Master of Forensic Psychopathology and Clinical Criminology.

In 1985 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, and four years later she specialized in psychiatry. In 1994 she was enrolled in the register of psychotherapists, and in 2001 she received a specialization in clinical criminology. In the period from 2000 to 2003, she develops and coordinates the course of the European Social Fund for the training of researchers and surgeons in biological non-drug interventions in the treatment of depression and the International Workshop on Sleep Deprivation and Chronobiology of Depression.

During her career, she conducted intensive research activities, especially in the field of computer electroencephalography and brain mapping methods, as well as brain imaging methods (CT, MRI, PET). She is also a member of the operating committee of the High-Field Magnetic Resonance Center of Excellence (CERMAC) for the study of the application of functional imaging in psychiatry.

She collaborates with numerous journals as a columnist, is the editor of the section Affective Disorders and the monograph Evidence based assessment of mood disorders for Clinical Neuropsychiatry, Journal of Treatment Evaluation. Since 1998, he has been a member of the scientific committee of the journal Psichiatria e Psicoterapia Analitica. Her articles are published in Genes, Brain and BehaviorPsychopharmacologyJournal of Clinical PsychiatryNeuropsychopharmacologyJournal of Affective DisordersPsychiatry Research.

He is the organizer of international seminars on psychiatry topics, such as new methods of sleep deprivation, chronobiology and depression.
