Biography

Dr Alfredo Castelli is a cardiologist at the Operative Unit of Interventional Cardiology and Haemodynamics of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan, directed by Dr Matteo Montorfano.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Buenos Aires in 1978 and its validation at the University of Milan in 1996, he specialized in Cardiology in Buenos Aires in 1986 with subsequent validation and licensing to the profession.

Clinically, at the Unit, the doctor is in charge of the Inpatient Department. The doctor is in charge of coordinating the clinical cardiology activities of patients undergoing coronary artery disease, coronary angioplasty, percutaneous implantation of aortic valve prosthesis (TAVI), Mitraclip, percutaneous closure of the patency of the foramen ovale (PFO), percutaneous closure of left auricle and heart failure in a department with 16 beds and more than 1500 admissions per year.

In terms of research activity, the doctor is particularly concerned with:

  • percutaneous myocardial revascularization,
  • percutaneous aortic valve implantation (TAVI),
  • percutaneous correction of mitral insufficiency and percutaneous closure of the left auricle,
  • medical treatment of heart failure,
  • arterial hypertension,
  • hypercholesterolemia,
  • prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

He is author and co-author of numerous publications in national and international scientific journals.

He participates in scientific congresses of the sector at national and international level.
