Post-Covid Rehabilitation
In 2020, Ospedale San Raffaele was the first hospital in the world to create an ad hoc rehabilitation department for Covid-19 patients who were still infectious, with the aim of recovering the motor, respiratory and neurological functions lose during the acute phase of the disease in the shortest possible time. The department has provided 360 ° rehabilitation therapy thanks to the daily commitment of a multidisciplinary team of nurses and medical specialists, which include physiatrists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, pulmonologists, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, cardiologists, otolaryngologists, physiotherapists and nutritionists.
Over 150 patients were treated in April and May 2020: the innovative organizational approach and the therapies practiced have been an example for other hospitals in Italy and around the world. The results obtained are now published in some of the major scientific journals in the sector, including the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
