Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant (Pediatric)
Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit (UOE-TMO) of Ospedale San Raffaele focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of various hematological and hemato-oncological diseases. The unit specializes in conditions such as acute leukemias, chronic myeloproliferative disorders, myelodysplasias, multiple myeloma, lymphomas, aplastic anemias, primary immunodeficiency and hereditary anemias like thalassemia and sickle cell disease.
The Unit actively develops and participates in clinical trials, offering patients access to cutting-edge therapies in phases I-III. Treatment options include pharmacological therapies, monoclonal and bispecific antibody therapies, and hematopoietic stem cell transplants from compatible family donors or volunteer registries. Additionally, the Unit employs gene therapies and advanced CAR-T treatments as part of its comprehensive care approach.
The Unit is accredited as a mixed adult and pediatric transplant center by the Lombardy Region and has achieved and maintains several important accreditations, including GITMO (Italian Group for Bone Marrow Transplantation) and JACIE (The Joint Accreditation Committee ISCT-Europe & EBMT). Furthermore, it holds certification from the National Transplant Center for its Stem Cell Program and is self-certified as a Phase I unit according to AIFA regulations.
