What is it?

CT Simulation the basic preliminary examination for the setting of a radiation treatment as it allows to obtain anatomical information of the district to be irradiated with the aim of identifying the target of radiation treatment and healthy surrounding organs to be preserved. Depending on the site to be treated and the clinical indications, it can be performed with or without contrast medium.

When is this exam indicated?

CT Simulation is appropriate for all areas of pathology to be subjected to radiation therapy.

How is it performed?

CT Simulation is performed by positioning the patient in the same way in which he/she will be positioned during radiation treatment, thanks to the use of personalized positioning systems. Depending on the area to be treated and the clinical indications, it can be performed with or without contrast medium. In some cases, this examination may be combined with other procedures such as PET or MRI to obtain additional information upon planning the treatment.
