Lorenzo Dagna

Biography

Professor Lorenzo Dagna is the Head of the Department of Immunology, Rheumatology, Allergology and Rare Diseases at the Ospedale San Raffaele Clinical Research Institute in Milan, cooperates with the Casa di Cura La Madonnina Clinic in Milan. He is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Deputy Coordinator of the International MD Program at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.

He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, then specialized in Internal Medicine at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. Between 2005 and 2008, he continued his education with two grants for research work in the field of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.

Professor Dagna’s clinical activities are focused on the treatment of patients with immunological and rheumatological diseases, with particular attention to rare immune-mediated diseases. Currently, his research interest is mainly directed to the pathogenesis and innovative and advanced methods of treatment of immune-mediated diseases, as well as the prevention and treatment of complications after tumor immunotherapy. His research papers appear in indexed journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, Arthritis and Rheumatology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Frontiers in Immunology, to name just a few.

Lorenzo Dagna is a member of the American College of Physician (ACP), honorary member of the European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM), member of the European Society for the Study of Vasculitis (EUVAS), Italian Society of Internal Medicine (SIMI), Italian Society of Rheumatology (SIR), Italian Society in Allergology, Asthma and Clinical Immunology (SIAAIC). He is the editor for immunology and rheumatology of the European Journal of Internal Medicine (Elsevier publishing house, Amsterdam).

Professor Dagna is the Chair of the European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM) working Group on Rare Diseases, member of the European Commission Expert Group on Rare Diseases (Luxembourg, Luxembourg), alternate member of the European Medicines Agency (EMA, London) Health Workers working Group, United Kingdom), member of the Board of the Foundation for the Advancement of Internal Medicine in Europe (FDIME, Geneva), member of the Scientific Committee of the Erdheim-Chester Global Alliance (De Ridder, Louisiana), member of the Multidisciplinary Committee on Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases of the European Union of Medical Professionals (UEMS). He received 14 awards from national and international scientific societies in the field of internal medicine and clinical immunology.
