Biography

Dr. Valeria Gerloni is a rheumatologist at Casa di Cura La Madonnina, where she works freelance.

After graduating with honors from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in 1975 at the Milan State University, she specialized in rheumatology in 1978 and in pediatrics in 1981, again at the same university. These specializations are also followed by obtaining the National Right to Primary Education in Rheumatology in 1993.

From 1981 to 1993, Dr. Gerloni was Medical Director of the Hospital at the University Department of Rheumatology, Istituto Gaetano Pini in Milan. From 1993 to 2015, she was in charge of the Department of Simple / Departmental Developmental Rheumatology, still at the Department of Rheumatology of the Istituto Gaetano Pini.

From 1983 to 2015, she was Associate Professor at the School of Specialization in Rheumatology at the University of Milan.

Finally, from 2015 to the present day, she is a retired freelancer and president and scientific coordinator of ARG-ITALIA: Onlus (non-profit social organization Italian Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis Association) for children and adolescents with rheumatic diseases.

Dr. Gerloni is mainly engaged in:

  • juvenile idiopathic arthritis
  • enteritis-associated arthritis
  • psoriatic arthritis
  • system connections
  • rheumatic diseases (acute articular rheumatism)
  • fibromyalgia
  • uveitis associated with juvenile idiopathic arthritis
  • auto-inflammatory diseases

In addition, she has extensive experience in clinical research, in phase II and III studies, in accordance with the ICH and Good Clinical Practice (GCP), in which she participated as a Principal Investigator.

 She is a member of SIR (Italian Society of Rheumatology), PRINTO (Pediatric Rheumatology International Organization) and Project Manager of IPERN (Italian Pediatric Rheumatology Network).

Dr. Gerloni has 321 articles published in national and international scientific journals. His Hirsch Index is 19 (29 since 2015) and i10-index is 85 (59 since 2015). In addition, she is the author and co-author of 5 volumes on rheumatology and/or pediatrics and has participated in more than 200 national and international congresses on rheumatology as a speaker.
