Biography

Prof. Valentina Elisabetta Di Mattei is Associate Professor at Vita Salute San Raffaele University and Clinical Psychologist at the Clinical Health Psychology Service of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele Turro under the supervision of Dr. Salvatore Mazzitelli.

She is the Clinical Health Psychology Service Coordinator and Director of the Mirror of Health program at the Ospedale San Raffaele.

After graduating from the Faculty of Psychology in 2001 at the Vita Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, she majored in clinical psychology in 2006 at the same university. Since graduation, she has gained work experience in Italy and abroad in prestigious clinics and universities.

Clinically, the professor carries out clinical psychological activities in the department and polyclinic, paying special attention to the psychological support of oncological patients who are being treated in the hospital.

Through her daily experience, she has developed a desire to care for patients and their quality of life, and together with Prof. Massimo Candiani and Dr. Giorgia Mangili, gynecologists, she started the Mirror of Health project at the San Raffaele Hospital, for which she is responsible. Since 2013, she has founded and served as Vice President of Mirror of Health, a non-profit organization for social purposes, a non-profit organization whose goal is to develop programs for the humanization of medical care.

In terms of research activities, Professor Di Mattei conducts research on the effectiveness of psychotherapy and clinical intervention in the hospital setting. The most profound research topics relate to the field of health psychology, psycho-oncology, ethics and deontology in the field of psychology.

She is the author and co-author of numerous publications in national and international scientific journals and book chapters. Her Hirsch Index is 9. She is a regular speaker at national and international industry congresses.
