Tammam Youssef

Professor Tammam Youssef currently holds the position of Vice-President for the GSD East Europe division in Bucharest, Romania, and serves as a Consultant at the Gruppo San Donato in Milan, Italy.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1985 from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, completing his specialization in Cardiovascular Surgery in 1992.

In July 2013, Professor Tammam was appointed as a Professor in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at Marie Curie Hospital in Bucharest, Romania. Later, in May 2022, he assumed the role of Consultant in Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at al-Hassan al-Mujtaba Hospital in Karbala, Iraq.

Prof. Tammam holds key positions as Chief of the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Department and Chief of International Cooperation for the Surgical Department at Damascus University in Syria. He is also a member of the administrative council and Vice-President of Al Andalus University for Medical Sciences in Tartus, Syria.

Throughout his career, Professor Tammam has held visiting professor positions internationally, including in Ukraine, Morocco, Libya, Yemen, and Romania. Additionally, he has held positions in various hospitals and institutions in Italy, such as:

• San Raffaele Research Hospital, Milano
• University Santa Orsola Hospital, Bologna
• University of Bari, Pediatric Department, Bari
• Cardiology and Rehabilitation Department, Caserta
• Pediatric Department in Public Hospital, Rovigo

Prof. Tammam Youssef serves as the General Secretary of the Mediterranean Thoracic Society (M.T.S), a delegate of the Eurasian Bridge Society, and a member of several scientific societies, including the Syrian Cardiovascular Association, Syrian Medical Association, Romanian Medical Association, Italian Medical Association, Italian Cardiovascular Surgery Association, and the European Society of Cardiology.

With over 65 publications, abstracts, and scientific papers to his name, Professor Tammam has actively participated as a chairman and speaker in more than 120 conferences, workshops, and both national and international events. His significant contributions to the field have earned him more than 10 national and international awards.
