Biography

Dr. Serena Maruccia is medical officer in urological surgery established at the Department of Urology of the Istituti Clinici Zucchi in Monza and specialist in urology and andrology at the Zucchi Wellness Clinic and Casa di Cura La Madonnina.

She is also a professor of pelvic floor rehabilitation in the field of uro-andrology in the framework of the Master's program "Treatment of Pelvic-perineal dysfunctions" at the University of Milan Bicocca and Professor of Andrology in the university course of specialization "Sexological Counseling", Department of Psychology of the University of Milan-Bicocca.

In 2005, she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan Bicocca, and five years later she specialized in urology at the University of Milan. Subsequently, she received a Master's Degree in Andrology from the Italian Society of Andrologists.

Her focus is on minimally invasive techniques such as the thulium laser for benign prostatic disease and the holmium laser for urinary stones, the diagnosis, and treatment of infertility in couples, functional urology and genital rehabilitation for functional problems, uro-oncology and reconstructive surgery.

As a member of the Scientific Committee of UROP (Urologists in Private Hospitals), Dr. Maruccia regularly participates as a mentor in teaching the use of a thulium laser in urological surgery and the Italian Society of Urologists in teaching endoscopy of the urinary tract (upper and lower) using rigid and flexible instruments.

Since 2013, she coordinates the Facilities group in the Communication Department of the Italian Society of Urology and is a member of the editorial board of the Archives of Italian Urology and Andrology.

She is also a member of important scientific groups and societies: EAU European Association of Urology, Italian Society of Andrology (SIA), Italian Society of Urologists (SIU), Urologists in Private Hospitals (UrOP), Italian Society of Urodynamics (SIUD), ESRU European Society of Residents in Urology, Society of Urologists of Northern Italy (SUNI).

Speaker of numerous Italian and international congresses, she is also the author of many scientific publications.
