Roberto Verzaro
Biography
Dr. Roberto Verzaro is a general surgeon at Casa di Cura La Madonnina.
After earning his degree in Medicine and Surgery from Sapienza University of Rome in 1988, he specialized in General Surgery in 1994 at the same university, where he also completed a Ph.D. in Surgical Pathophysiology that year. He further specialized in Hepatobiliary Surgery and Organ Transplants at the University of Miami and Jackson Memorial Hospital (1997-2000).
Dr. Verzaro is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, and the United States Military Cancer Institute.
From 2001 to 2008, he was an Associate Professor of Surgery at the UPMC University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, focusing on abdominal transplants, hepatobiliary oncology, peritoneal carcinomatosis, and gastrointestinal cancer treatment.
During this time, he also worked as a surgeon at the Istituto per i Trapianti e le Terapie ad Alta Specializzazione (IsMeTT) in Palermo, specializing in organ transplants and oncological surgery, particularly hepatobiliary.
From 2010 to 2017, Dr. Verzaro served as Chief of Surgery at MG Vannini Hospital in Rome, managing departments of general surgery, oncology surgery, and emergency surgery.
Between 2018 and 2022, he was a consultant in general and minimally invasive surgery at the Salvator Mundi International Hospital UPMC in Rome. Since 2023, he has been a consultant for oncological surgery at the Responsible Research Hospital in Campobasso. He currently practices as a general surgeon at Casa di Cura La Madonnina.
