Roberto Lanzi

Biography

Dr. Roberto Lanzi is Head of the department of functional diagnostics of thyroid (gland) at the Endocrinology Department at the San Raffaele Research Hospital under the direction of Professor Andrea Giustina.
 
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan (Università degli Studi di Milano) in 1987. He completed specialization in internal medicine in 1992 and in endocrinology in 1996. During his studies, Dr. Lanzi worked as a Research Fellow at the Neuropeptide Physiology Laboratory del Montreal Children's Hospital Research Institute, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
 
In clinical activity, Dr. Lanzi has focused on endocrine diseases, in particular pituitary, adrenal and thyroid dysfunction. In addition, he performs ultrasound and thyroid cytological diagnostics.
 
Since 2018, Dr. Lanzi has contributed to the introduction of radiofrequency therapy for the treatment of benign thyroid nodules. He collaborates with the multidisciplinary clinic of thyroid gland oncology. Also, he is a consultant-endocrinologist at the Fertility Centre of the San Raffaele Research Hospital.
 
Since 2010, Dr. Lanzi is Head of the day hospital for internal medicine.
 
Dr. Lanzi is a referent of the San Raffaele Research Hospital for the Regional network of rare diseases and for the European network Endo-ERN for rare diseases of the endocrine system in adults.
 
Dr. Lanzi is a member of scientific societies, including Endocrine Society, Italian Society of Endocrinology (SIE), Association of Endocrinologists (AME), Italian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SIUMB), International Hair Research Foundation (IHRF).
 
He is author of 60 articles published in international scientific journals and 8 book chapters in the field of endocrinology.
