Roberto Dino Villani

Dr. Roberto Dino Villani is a proctologist at Casa di Cura La Madonnina and Director of the Comprehensive Surgical Department of Proctological and Pelvic Floor Surgery at ospedale Sassuolo SpA.

In 1981 he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Pavia, and in 1989 he received a specialty in digestive system surgery and Endoscopy at the University of Milan, where in 1989 he also specialized in microsurgery and experimental surgery, and in 1994 in general surgery.

After graduation, he completed an internship at the Department of Emergency Surgery of the Ospedale Fatebenefratelli e Oftalmico in Milan, and then became an assistant of general surgery at the Ospedale di Melzo. Subsequently, for seven years he was an assistant in the First Department of General Surgery of the Ospedale Fatebenefratelli e Oftalmico in Milan.

In 1987, he won a competition for the position of Assistant of General Surgery at the Ospedale San Giuseppe dei Padri Fatebenefratelli in Milan, where he remained until 2018, when he moved to Sassuolo to create the Department of Proctology and Pelvic Floor Surgery, which he still directs.

From the very beginning of his career, Dr. Villani paid special attention to:

• proctological pathologies (hemorrhoids, cracks, fistulas, etc.),
• study and therapy of constipation and fecal incontinence

With 5,000 surgeries to his credit, Villani has also developed some treatments for hemorrhoidal pathology.

His scientific activity is also consistent: 120 articles in specialized journals and more than 150 congresses on general surgery, in particular proctology, in which he participated as a speaker, moderator and chairman of meetings.

Dr. Villani was President of the Unitary Italian Society of Coloproctology, Director of the Italian Society of Surgery and the Italian Society of Outpatient Surgery and Outpatient Surgery.
