Biography

Dr. Ornella Melogli is the Head of the Department of Internal Medicine and Solvents at the IRCCS  Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan and an Associate Professor at the Vita Salute San Raffaele University in Milan. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, she received a specialization (at the same university) in internal medicine, defending her thesis on the etiopathogenesis of aplastic anemia in humans.

Her activities are mainly focused on research in the field of diabetology, immunology and hematology, especially in the treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and diabetes. Thanks to her work in the field of metabolism, Dr. Ornella Melogli is a member of medical associations at the national and international levels, such as the Italian Diabetes Society and the American Diabetes Association. In fact, her presentations at seminars and congresses on nutrition-related topics are different.

She is a member of the Ethics Committee of the Ospedale San Raffaele and the scientific committee of the Karpos journal. Participated in the compilation of scientific texts offering materials on the metabolic endocrine system, diagnostics, and therapy.        

There are many international projects in which she participates, contributing to the goals aimed at improving the organization and medical education in developing countries. Taking into account her professional and non-professional achievements, in 2010 she was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Merit for the Italian Republic.
