Biography
Dr. Nicoletta Maxia is the Head of the Biological Aspects of Assisted Reproduction (ART) at Policlinico San Marco.
She graduated in Biological Sciences from the University of Cagliari and specialized in Medical Genetics in 2002. In the field of assisted reproduction, she has performed over 6,000 procedures. Since 1995, she has served as the Head Biologist in ART centers across eight public and private accredited hospital facilities.
Dr. Maxia has extensive experience with in vitro fertilization (IVF), embryo transfer, intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), and intracytoplasmic morphologically selected sperm injection (IMSI). She is also skilled in testicular sperm extraction (TESE) and aspiration (TESA) and has expertise in the use of ART techniques for patients with male infertility associated with paraplegia.
She actively participates in conferences related to infertility, gynecology, and obstetrics, contributing over 30 scientific articles and conference proceedings. Notable among these are the International Congress of Medical-Surgical Endocrinology, the National Congress of the Italian Society of Fertility and Sterility (SIFES), the World Congress on Controversies in Obstetrics, Gynecology & Infertility, and contributions to journals like *Gynecology of Childhood and Adolescence* and *Development in Gynecology and Obstetrics*. Dr. Maxia also organized a conference in 2018 on the relationship between infertility and paraplegia.
