Biography

Dr. Massimiliano Marrocco Trischitta is Medical Director of the Department of Vascular Surgery and Head of Clinical Research at the IRCCS Polyclinic at the Policlinico San Donato.

In 1995, he graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, where in 2002 he also received a specialization in vascular surgery. In 2008, he received his doctorate in "Methodology for the Study of Vascular and Thoracic Diseases" from the University of Bologna.

He was a Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Cardiovascular Science at the Gerontology Research Center NIH at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore (USA) and a Visiting Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and the Department of Surgery at Emory University in Atlanta (USA).

From 2001 to 2003 he was Medical Director of the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Research Clinical Institute of the Dermopathic Institute of the Immaculate Conception in Rome, and from 2003 to 2015 – Medical Director of the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Scientific Institute of the University of San Raffaele.

From 2013 to 2015, he was an Associate Professor at the Specialized School for Vascular Surgery at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and from 2016 to 2017 – at the Specialized School for Vascular Surgery at the State University of Milan. In 2018, he received the National Scientific Qualification of Level 2 Professor in Vascular Surgery.

Dr. Marrocco Trischitta carries out his surgical activities mainly in the field of pathologies of the carotid artery and the abdominal and thoracic aorta, with particular attention to aneurysmal disease.

He is engaged in research activities in the field of pathologies of the aorta and carotid arteries, paying special attention to the research of computational and "in vivo" hydrodynamics. He is also the Head of the Clinical Research Department, which provides scientific, organizational and logistical support to medical researchers at the Institute.

He is currently the Principal Investigator for two studies funded by the Ministry of Health. (Completed studies): "Hemodynamics and Autonomic and Cognitive Performance After Carotid Revascularization Procedures" (NCT 03493971) and "Biomechanical Reappraisal of Planning for Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair" (NCT 03824626).

He has a Hirsch Index 18 with 1186 references, has 60 peer-reviewed publications and is the first author in 34 of them. Member of the editorial board of the European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and auditor of some leading journals in the field of cardiovascular diseases, including Journal of the American College of Cardiology, European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, Journal of Cardiovascular Translational Research, Journal of Endovascular Therapy, Annals of Vascular Surgery.
