Maria Luigia Ciancio

Dr. Maria Luigia Ciancio is a radiologist at the Imaging Diagnostic Service of Policlinico San Marco and Policlinico San Pietro.

She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia in 1990.

In 1998, she specialized in Imaging Diagnostics at the Institute of Radiological Sciences in Milan.

Throughout her career, Dr. Ciancio has expanded her expertise in key diagnostic methods, particularly in breast imaging (mammography and clinical ultrasound) and radiodiagnostics, working at diagnostic centers and imaging units in several Italian hospitals.

She has particularly developed her skills in:

• Performing breast MRI and interventional breast procedures (ultrasound-guided biopsies, core biopsies, stereotactic biopsies, mammotome stereotactic procedures, preoperative wire localization).
• Traditional radiology, contrast-enhanced CT scans, and general ultrasound.

In 1998, she received the Cruccolini Award for the best Free Communication presented at the 38th Congress of the Italian Society of Medical Radiology (SIRM) in Milan with the presentation titled "Echocontrast in Senology."

She has earned certifications, including the 2011 certification for completing the "Principles of Radioprotection" distance learning course and the 2004 certification for mammography screening interpretation.

Dr. Ciancio is the author and co-author of numerous conference posters and has attended many national courses and conferences, focusing primarily on clinical and screening senology.
