Maria Giovanna Pecoraro
Biography
Dr. Maria Giovanna Pecoraro is a radiologist in the Diagnostic Imaging Unit at Policlinico San Marco.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Messina in 1988. In 1993, she obtained a specialization in Neurosurgery at the University of Verona, and in 1999, she specialized in Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Milan.
Over the years, she has gained full autonomy in performing and reporting on exams such as CT (computed tomography), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), and angiographic exams related to neuroradiology.
She developed the MRI method for flexion-extension studies of the cervical spine in collaboration with neurosurgeon colleagues. She also implemented the execution of prone MRI for suspected tethered cord syndrome.
From 2013 to 2015, she served as a board member of the Italian Society of Basicranium.
Dr. Pecoraro has participated in numerous courses and conferences, also as a speaker. She has contributed to the writing of scientific publications that have appeared in national journals.
