Luigia Brugliera

Biography

Dr. Luigia Brugliera, a physiatrist specializing in Neurorehabilitation and Pain Therapy, is the head of the Specialist Motor Rehabilitation Unit at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan.

She graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2008 and specialized in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine in 2015 at the University of Catania. In 2018, she earned a second-level Master's degree in Pain Medicine from Advanced Algology Research. In 2019, she obtained a Ph.D. in Neurosciences from the University of Genoa.

Her career began as a resident in the Neurology and Neurorehabilitation Complex Operational Unit of the University Hospital of Catania. From 2010 to 2012, she worked in various operational units in the province of Catania: Neurology (Cannizzaro Hospital), Pain Therapy (Polyclinic University Hospital), Pediatric Rehabilitation (Villa Sandra Clinic in San Giovanni La Punta), and Neurorehabilitation (Villa dei Gerani Clinic).

She then worked at the Functional Recovery and Rehabilitation Unit of the Salvatore Maugeri Foundation in Pavia (2012-2013), the Unipolar Spinal Unit at Cannizzaro Hospital in Catania (2013), and the Rehabilitation and Pain Therapy Department at Pietra Ligure Hospital (2013-2015).

Between 2015 and 2016, she became the Coordinator of the Interventional Physiatry Clinic at Villa Caramora and served as a physiatrist assistant in the Osteoarticular Rehabilitation Unit at the Auxologico Italiano Institute in Verbania. In 2016, she became a physiatrist assistant in the Neurorehabilitation Unit at the Auxologico Italiano Institute in Milan.

Since 2015, in the field of pain therapy, she has been an authorized prescriber of medical cannabis.

Dr. Luigia Brugliera is the author and co-author of international scientific publications and a member of scientific societies such as SIRN (Italian Society of Neurological Rehabilitation) and ARSOP (Scientific Society of Rehabilitation Physicians in Private Healthcare). Since 2012, she has served as national secretary of the SIMFER resident section and is currently a member of the society.
