Biography

Dr. Livia Archibugi is a Gastroenterologist and Pancreatobiliary Endoscopist at the Unit of BilioPancreatic Endoscopy and Ecoendoscopy at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan. She is a graduate in Medicine and Surgery of the University of Rome La Sapienza, where she also obtained a specialization in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy with a thesis on pancreatic cancer.

She then trained in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatographies (ERCP) in IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele where she also graduated with a PhD cum laude in Molecular Medicine.

She performs more than 250 ERCPs a year, as also Gastroscopies and Colonoscopies, and is Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator in various research projects concerning Pancreatic Cancer, ERCP and Pancreatic Screening programs for High Risk Individuals, trained in both clinical and basic science research.

She collaborates as tutor for the School of Specialization in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy of the University Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan.

Dr. Archibugi is author of more than 60 scientific publications (H-index in Scopus 14) and 3 chapters in scientific books.

In 2021 she was awarded with the L’Oreal Fundation-UNESCO For Women in Science.

She is a member of the Educational Committee of European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE), Trainee Editor for United European Gastroenterology Journal (UEGJ) and member of the task force Comunicazione for Associazione Italiana Studio Pancreas (AISP).
