Dr. Leone Giordano is the Senior Medical Director of the Department of Otolaryngology at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, headed by Professor Mario Bussi.
Dr. Giordano also teaches at the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and at the Specialized School of Otolaryngology of the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.
After graduating in 1995 from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Pavia, in 2000 he majored with honors in otolaryngology at the University of Turin. Between 2011 and 2012, he finally obtained a Master's degree of level II in aesthetic Surgery at the University of Milan.
From the point of view of clinical activity, he has experience and special interest in: acute and chronic inflammatory diseases of the pharynx and larynx (pharyngitis, tonsillitis, adenoiditis, laryngitis); inflammatory diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses (rhinitis, sinusitis, polyposis); malformations or post-traumatic conditions of the septum and pyramid of the nose, causing obstruction of the respiratory tract; inflammation of the salivary glands (sialoadenitis and any calculous manifestations); tumors of the head and neck of interest to ENT (benign and malignant tumors of the larynx, oral cavity, pharynx).
He concentrates his interest on major oncological surgery of the head and neck and on reconstructive surgery with local flaps, on the leg and revascularization using microsurgical methods, as well as on the reconstruction of nerve lesions. Performed about 90 reconstructions with revascularized free flaps, with the staging and execution of vascular microanastomoses, as the first surgeon.
As a researcher, Dr. Giordano focused on many aspects, including: the quality of life of patients who have undergone major oncological operations in the head and neck, voice rehabilitation using prostheses after total laryngectomy, head and neck surgery and the introduction of innovative methods aimed at improving the aesthetic result.
He is the author and co-author of more than 40 scientific publications published in national and international journals. His Hirsch index is 9. He constantly participates in national and international industry congresses.
