Biography

Dr. Laura Bazzichi is a Rheumatologist at the Rheumatology Unit of IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio.

After earning her degree in Medicine and Surgery, Dr. Bazzichi completed two medical specializations: one in Clinical Pharmacology and another in Rheumatology, gaining in-depth expertise in both the therapeutic and clinical aspects of rheumatic diseases. She later expanded her skill set with three Level II University Master’s degrees in Pain Therapy, Clinical Sexology, and Oxygen-Ozone Therapy, building a highly multidisciplinary profile.

Throughout her career, she obtained the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in Rheumatology (2017) and has taught as a contract professor at the University of Pisa. She continues to lecture in various university master’s programs, maintaining strong ties to the academic and research world.

Her extensive involvement in international congresses and research projects places her training within a global professional framework.

Dr. Bazzichi has long been dedicated to managing complex rheumatologic conditions, with a particular focus on fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and chronic musculoskeletal disorders. Her approach is marked by an integrated vision of chronic pain, combining clinical and scientific expertise in rheumatology, pharmacology, and pain therapy. She has also devoted significant efforts to the study of autoimmune diseases such as systemic sclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis, actively participating in research projects and clinical trials.

In recent years, she has promoted multidisciplinary therapeutic pathways, integrating pharmacological treatments, innovative physical therapies, and therapeutic education programs to improve patients' quality of life.

In parallel, Dr. Bazzichi has developed a robust clinical and translational research activity in the field of rheumatology, with particular interest in fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, systemic sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

She has served as Principal Investigator and Sub-Investigator in numerous clinical trials and has coordinated innovative studies on biomarkers and diagnostic methodologies, such as salivary proteomic analysis.

She has won and led projects funded by national research calls (AIFA, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Pisa, COFIN), contributing significantly to the advancement of knowledge in rheumatic diseases. She has authored over 170 scientific publications indexed in PubMed, actively collaborates with international scientific journals, speaks at conferences and training courses, and is a member of scientific committees and editorial boards in the field.
