Jane Christiane Messina

Dr. Jane Christiane Messina is an orthopedic surgeon who mainly deals with hand, wrist and upper limb surgery at Casa di Cura La Madonnina.

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Turin in 1991, in 1997 She specialized in orthopedics and traumatology at the University of Milan, and in 2002 received her PhD from the same university in the field of surgical pathophysiology.

During her studies and career, she gained experience abroad in the USA, Great Britain, France in the departments of hand and upper limb surgery.

In addition to collaborating with Casa di Cura as a freelance employee, Dr. Messina is the highly specialized Medical Director of Ortopedico Gaetano Pini-CTO in Milan, Prima Clinica Ortopedica.

Her field of activity, in which she resorts to arthroscopic and microsurgical methods, mainly concerns surgery:

• Traumatic and post-traumatic pathology of the wrist, arm, elbow and upper limb (fractures and consequences of fractures of the radial, navicular, ulnar and carpal bones, acute and chronic ligament injuries),

• Distal radiococcal instability (TFCC lesions) and distal radiococcal arthrosis,
• Dupuytren's disease and scar retractions,
• Wounds with damage to the skin tendons and nerves,

• Infectious pathology, arthritis, osteoarthritis and osteomyelitis,

• Kinbeck's disease and osteonecrosis of the wrist bones,
• Channel syndromes, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, compression of the ulnar nerve in the elbow joint and other channel syndromes,

Dr. Messina also conducts regular research in the field of hand surgery and orthopedic surgery and is the author of more than 85 scientific articles and several chapters in books. For more than 10 years, she has also participated as a speaker/lecturer in more than 250 conferences and taught a course of medicine and surgery at the University of Milan.
