Jacopo Peccatori

Biography

Dr. Jacopo Peccatori heads the Functional Department of Bone Marrow Transplantation and the Clinical Unit for the Transplantation Program (CIC 813) in the Department of Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplantation at the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, headed by Professor Fabio Ciceri, and collaborates with Casa di Cura La Madonnina.

His studies began in 1993 with a diploma in medicine and surgery at the University of Milan, where he specialized in internal medicine in 1998. Subsequently, he received a specialization in hematology in 2006 at the University of Milan Bicocca. For many years, he has been interning abroad, in particular, at the pediatric department of transplantation at GOSH - Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. He also collaborated with the Cure2Children Association as part of an international project for the development of transplantology in India, spending some time in a hospital in Jaipur.

Dr. Peccatori attended various advanced training courses on pain management and for many years personally performed procedural sedation during diagnostic activities (for example, bone marrow aspiration and lumbar puncture), which otherwise may be unpleasant for the patient.

In the Department of Transplantology, under the guidance of Dr. Peccatori, about 80 allogeneic transplants are performed per year for various diseases (leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma) and from various donor sources (family members, adults from the registry, umbilical cord). As a researcher, Dr. Peccatori has launched numerous studies of allogeneic reduced toxicity and participates in multicenter and international transplantation studies, the results of which have been published in important scientific journals.

Author of more than 80 publications in international scientific journals, his Hirsch index is 28.

He is a member of EBMT (European Blood and Marrow Transplantation group ozga) and GITMO (Italian Bone Marrow Transplantation Group).
