Biography
Dr. Giovanni Mauri is an Interventional Radiologist and Head of the Research Laboratory for imaging-guided minimally invasive treatments of the thyroid at the U.O. of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio.
After graduating in 2007 from the University of Milan, he specialized in Radiodiagnostics in 2012 at the same university. In 2010, he was a Clinical Fellow in Interventional Radiology at St. George’s Hospital, University of London. In 2011, he was a Research Fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, in Boston. From 2019 to 2022, he was a researcher at the University of Milan.
His specific area of interest is imaging-guided minimally invasive treatments and interventional radiology procedures, with particular interest in ablation treatments.
He is currently the chairperson of the taskforce on minimally invasive thyroid treatments for the Cardiovascular and Interventional Society of Europe (CIRSE). He is the creator and responsible for the project “termoablazione.expert” (website: www.termoablazione.expert), aimed at disseminating knowledge on ablation techniques, and the founder of the “Italian Study Group on Minimally Invasive Thyroid Treatments – MITT group.”
He is the author of the European guidelines on minimally invasive treatments for thyroid tumors and has authored 168 publications in national and international journals, with an H-index of 38, and more than 200 presentations at national and international courses and conferences. He is the founder of the Italian research group on minimally invasive thyroid treatments (MITT group).
