Biography

Dr. Giovanna Mignogna is an endocrinologist of the Bone Metabolism Section of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Department of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, headed by Professor Vincenzo Salini. He also works as a consultant for metabolic bone diseases at Policlinico San Marco.

In 1996 she graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan. In 2001, she received a specialization in endocrinology and substitution therapy at the same university.

During her studies, she also attends the Department of Neurosurgery of the Ospedale San Raffaele, dealing with pituitary adenomas - the subject of a dissertation for a degree and specialization.

Her clinical work focuses mainly on metabolic diseases of the skeleton, such as primary and secondary osteoporosis, rickets and osteogenesis imperfecta, pathology of the parathyroid glands and Paget's disease.

In fact, she is a licensed physician who can prescribe infusion therapy and therapeutic plans for the treatment of severe osteoporosis, Paget's disease and primary hyperparathyroidism.

The doctor is a consultant of the Oncology Department of Ospedale San Raffaele for the treatment of osteoporosis in women with breast cancer and the Infectious Diseases Department of Ospedale San Raffaele Turro for the treatment of osteoporosis in HIV-positive patients.

Her clinical activities also include outpatient clinics designed for patients with Down syndrome and oncology.

Dr. Mignogna is the author and co-author of scientific articles published in national and international journals; constantly participates in national and international congresses of the industry.

She is a member of the following societies: 

  • Siomms (Italian Society of Osteoporosis, Mineral Metabolism and Skeletal Diseases),
  • Italian Society of Osteoporosis, Mineral Metabolism and Skeletal Diseases.
  • AME, Association of Endocrinologists.
