Eugenio Jonghi Lavarini

Dr. Eugenio Jonghi-Lavarini is the Head of the Department of Digestive Endoscopy and Gastroenterological Pathophysiology at the Istituto Clinico Sant’Ambrogio Clinical Institute in Milan. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan in 1981, he specialized in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy in 1985.

He is engaged in endoscopic and clinical gastroenterology, using various endoscopic, diagnostic and surgical techniques. In terms of clinical activity, in addition to examinations, he uses a breath test to check colon function, the presence of helicobacter pylori infection, and other methods to assess the function of the gastrointestinal tract.

He participates as a speaker, and also very often as an organizer, in numerous scientific meetings devoted to acid-dependent stomach diseases, extraesophageal manifestations of gastroesophageal reflux, chronic bowel diseases, supporting the importance of colon tumor screening.

He is the author of articles published in the Notiziario Chirurgico, Neoplasie del Torace, Minerva Pneumologica and many other national and international journals. It was he who prepared materials for the national symposium of the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy, National Congress on Digestive Tract Diseases, Digestive Disease Week and various workshops, such as the seminar Rights and Responsibilities in Digestive Endoscopy.

In 1986, he was the founder of the Italian delegation of the Société Medicale d'Imagerie et de Recherche (SMIER) and he is also the member of other expert groups such as the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED), Association for the Diagnosis and Endoscopic Treatment of Tumors, Italian Association of Clinical gastroenterologists (AIGO) and National Working Group on Digestive Tract Carcinoma (FONCAD).
