Biography

Dr. Cristina Fumagalli is an operating anesthesiologist at the Casa di Cura La Madonnina Pain Medicine Center.

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan (1998) in 2002. She specialized in Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the School of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the University of Milan. In 2016, she also completed a three-year Master's degree in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine at the So Wen School of Acupuncture in Milan.

Dr. Fumagalli has completed specialized training at the prestigious Intensive Care and Intensive Care Unit (E.Vecla) Policlinico di Milano under the guidance of Prof. L. Gattinoni and in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the IRCCS Policlinico San Donato. She has also participated in numerous national and international conferences, ECM-accredited training and advanced training courses, as well as FAD courses related to a variety of specialized activities.

During her career, the doctor has worked as an anesthesiologist in several therapeutic and surgical departments (emergency surgery, vascular surgery, general and transplant surgery, otolaryngological surgery) of the IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico in Milan, and since 2001 she has been the 1st level Medical Director for Anesthesia and Resuscitation at the Clinici di Perfezionamento, currently at the Ca'Granda Foundation Clinical Research Institute, where she is engaged in the management of perioperative anesthesia of highly specialized surgical interventions in the neonatal, pediatric sectors, during physiological and pathological pregnancy, as well as in cooperation with any world-famous guests, specialists in various listed sectors.

In particular, the doctor has gained considerable experience in anesthesiology in:

  • Pediatric thoracic, abdominal and pelvic surgery with laparotomy and robotic technology
  • Urological and gynecological robotic surgery
  • Oncological gynecology
  • Surgical treatment of complex malformations in children and adult patients.

In addition, the doctor has proven experience in the treatment and management of patients with chronic pain, accumulated in a team working in the Department of Pain Medicine of the IRCCS Policlinico di Milano. This know-how is also used in the Casa di Cura La Madonnina Pain Medicine Center, where the patient undergoes a treatment path aimed at solving, if possible, the problems underlying the emerging symptoms in the context of a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

In addition to clinical activities for many years aimed at improving the management of patients in critical condition in the operating room, delivery room and intensive care for both children and adult patients, as well as adherence to the treatment of patients with acute postoperative pain, chronic pain and cancer patients, from 2005 to 2013, the doctor is also the author of protocols and procedures for the foundation of the IRCCS Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico Milano. She also participates in writing articles for indexed international journals and conference proceedings.
