Project Aim

To contribute to improving nursing care, particularly in four Governorates (Port Said, Ismailia, South Sinai and Luxor) and neighboring areas.

Background of the Project

The good results obtained and the excellent cooperation established during the previous project in favour of the Technical Institute of Nursing of Port Said motivated the continuation of technical assistance and training to consolidate what had already been acquired in the previous initiative and to extend technical assistance and financial and material support to other governorates identified on the basis of the Egyptian Ministry of Health priorities,.  The project is framed within an important health insurance reform at national level. The project has been scaled up from Port Said to the governorates of Ismailia, Luxor and South Sinai, with particular reference to Sharm el Sheikh. The donor of the project is the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development (AICS).

Objectives achieved

The centres in Port Said (Mabarrah) and Ismailia have already been rehabilitated, whereas Luxor schools civil works are ongoing. Training courses for nurses and teachers are in progress. The cardiology outpatient clinic is operative and refers  pediatric patients to Hospitals for surgery.
