Infiltration of corticosteroids

What is it?

The infiltration carries out an anti-inflammatory, antimitotic and vasoconstrictor effect and prevents the hypertrophic involution of the lesion. The treatment is contraindicated in sublevel atrophic scars.

When is this procedure indicated?

In hypertrophic or keloid scars, local infiltration of corticosteroids can be used.

How is it performed?

Intralesional infiltration of high potency steroid performed by the dermatologist (not self-medication). Multiple sessions, spaced 30 days apart, are usually necessary.
