Cardio-Respiratory Rehabilitation
Cardiac Rehabilitation departments offer dedicated programs for patients with heart diseases, aimed at obtaining faster recovery, improving physical capacity, and maintaining psychological balance. Undergoing a rehabilitation program will allow smooth resumption of patients’ activities in the family, social and work environment.
Goals of a cardiac rehabilitation program are to stabilize and, when possible, reverse the progression of cardiovascular disease, thereby reducing the risk of new events.

On a national level, collaborations have been undertaken with ANMCO (National Association of Hospital Cardiologists) and AICPR (Italian Association of Clinical, Preventive and Rehabilitative Cardiology). Results of the research activities are regularly presented to ESC (European Society of Cardiology) and EAPC (European Association of Preventive Cardiology) as well as on the national congresses of cardiology.
Cardiac Rehabilitation Units of Gruppo San Donato are part of the research network in the context of a multicentre project funded by the Ministry of University and Research (Miur) as PRIN (Project of Relevant National Interest).
