Biography

Dr. Mauro Andreata is Head of the Hip Surgery Unit at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio. He also collaborates with Istituto Clinico San Siro.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1986 and continued his training with a specialization in Orthopaedics and Traumatology, obtained in 1991 from the same university.

Between 1987 and 1993, he worked as a medical doctor for development cooperation in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1993, he became a senior physician in the Orthopaedics Department of Verbania Hospital. Since 1994, he has been part of the orthopedic team at Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi in Milan, now IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi–Sant’Ambrogio.

His clinical work focuses particularly on knee prosthetic and arthroscopic surgery and hip replacement surgery, fields in which he has gained extensive experience and internationally recognized expertise.

From 1996 to 2006, he participated in a European multicenter study on knee prostheses, and between 2000 and 2005, he took part in an Italian multicenter study dedicated to cartilage transplantation. From 2019 to 2022, he was involved in the European Orthounion study, focusing on the use of autologous stem cells in the treatment of limb non-unions— a project supported by European Union funding.

His contribution to the scientific community also includes numerous publications in national and international journals: from 1998 to 2002, he served as editor of the journal "Artroscopia e Chirurgia Mininvasiva", and in 2004–2005, he was a member of the Knee Surgery Committee of SIGASCOT (Italian Society of Knee, Arthroscopy, Sport, Cartilage and Orthopaedic Technologies).

Over the years, he has also participated in international training activities as an instructor for AO Recon, teaching in 2018 and 2020 at the Davos and Lithuania centers.
