Enzymatic dysfunctions

One or more of the proteins (enzymes) contained in adrenal cells that are responsible for synthesizing various hormones may be missing or not functioning properly. These defects can occur due to congenital causes or autoimmune processes. In this case, there is abnormal synthesis or secretion of adrenal hormones, with symptoms and signs varying depending on the deficiency or excess of individual hormones.
