Biography
Dr. Vincenzo Tomaselli is a pediatrician and pediatric surgeon at the Pediatric Unit of Policlinico San Pietro.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1977 from the University of Milan, where he specialized in Pediatrics in 1980 and in Pediatric Surgery in 1985.
Throughout his professional career, Dr. Tomaselli has collaborated with neonatologists, pediatricians, anesthetists, obstetricians/gynecologists, and pharmacists. This multidisciplinary collaboration led to a pioneering project on clinical parenteral nutrition. Additionally, his team approach in the perinatal study of congenital malformations of surgical relevance has achieved significant results in prenatal diagnosis. Over the years, he has also worked with child neuropsychiatry to provide integrated care for severely disabled children in the neonatal-pediatric age group, with a focus on surgical procedures.
Since 1987, Dr. Tomaselli has been collaborating with the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Mott Children's Hospital, University of Michigan Medical School, where he initiated research on intestinal bacterial translocation in newborns. Since 2015, he has been coordinating the training program for pediatric surgeons at the Materno Infantile San Damien Hospital in Haiti.
Dr. Tomaselli is a member of the Lombardy Study Group on Neonatal Parenteral Nutrition and the interdisciplinary Study Group that developed guidelines on digestive hemorrhages in pediatric patients.
