Vincenzo Maria Altieri
Biography
Dr. Vincenzo Altieri is the Head of the Urology Unit at Policlinico San Marco.
In 2006, he graduated with top honors in Medicine and Surgery from the Gabriele d’Annunzio University of Chieti-Pescara, where he also earned a specialization in Urology with distinction in 2012.
As the recipient of a scholarship for the Biomedical, Cytomorphological, and Motor Sciences program, in 2013, he attended the Department of Urology and Kidney Transplants at the University of Halle, Germany. During this time, he participated in laparoscopic surgical procedures and specialized lectures. Dr. Altieri also completed a fellowship at Bedford Hospital in the United Kingdom.
In 2016, he obtained a PhD in Biomedical, Cytomorphological, and Motor Sciences from the University of Chieti-Pescara.
Throughout his career, Dr. Altieri has refined his expertise in urological diagnostics, urethrocystoscopy, and andrological surgery. He specializes in the surgical treatment of prostate hypertrophy using all types of lasers, as well as laparoscopic, open, and robotic oncological surgery. Additionally, he has extensive experience in endoscopic and percutaneous surgery for kidney and ureteral stones, with a strong focus on the use of new minimally invasive technologies. In particular, he is dedicated to advancing focal therapy for low-risk prostate tumors.
Alongside his medical practice, he has taken on various academic teaching roles:
- Since 2023: Researcher and Adjunct Professor at the Department of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Molise.
- Since 2021: Adjunct Professor at Humanitas University in Milan.
- Since 2020: Teaching Assistant at the Department of Psychological, Health, and Territorial Sciences at the University of Chieti-Pescara.
- 2006-2012: Teaching Assistant for the Urology course at the University of Chieti-Pescara.
He actively participates in numerous national and international congresses, also serving as a speaker and scientific coordinator.
Dr. Altieri is the author of several national and international publications and is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Men’s Health.
He is a member of the Italian Society of Urology (SIU), the Italian Society of Andrology (SIA), and the Italian Society of Oncological Urology (SIUrO).
