Valentina Da Prat
Biography
Dr. Valentina Da Prat is a Consultant in the Clinical Nutrition Area at the IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital. She also serves as a Medical Officer at the Clinical Dietetics and Nutrition Unit of the IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo Foundation in Pavia.
Dr. Da Prat graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pisa in 2014 and specialized in Internal Medicine at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University of Milan in 2019. From 2020 to 2022, she held the position of Assistant Physician in the General Medicine and High-Intensity Care Units at IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital. In 2022, she obtained a second-level Master's degree in Nutrition and Applied Dietetics from the University of Milan-Bicocca, gaining specialized knowledge in nutritional support for short bowel syndrome, liver diseases, and oncological conditions at the Clinical Nutrition Unit of the Niguarda Hospital in Milan.
During her university studies, she completed internships at prestigious international centers, including the Oncology Department at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, as well as in Italy, at the Centro di Riferimento Oncologico in Aviano and the National Cancer Institute in Milan.
Dr. Da Prat specializes in managing malnutrition in patients with oncological diseases (e.g., gastrointestinal, pancreatic, pulmonary, genitourinary, hematological cancers), malabsorption, or gastrointestinal diseases (e.g., post-surgical conditions such as gastrectomy, intestinal resections, and pancreatectomy, short bowel syndrome and intestinal failure, liver diseases, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, celiac disease, food intolerances, irritable bowel syndrome), and acute or chronic extra-intestinal conditions (e.g., lung diseases, heart conditions, gynecological issues, chronic infections, post-COVID-19 recovery).
She conducts research in nutritional and internal medicine and has published scientific articles in national and international journals (H index 9). She is a member of several societies, including the Italian Society of Internal Medicine (SIMI), and national and international societies of Artificial Nutrition (SINPE-ESPEN-ASPEN). Additionally, she is part of the Technical Commission of the Lombardy Region on Pulmonary Neoplasms, the Supportive Care Task Force of the Italian Association for the Study of the Pancreas (AISP), and the Nutrition Working Group of the "Living without a Stomach" Association. Dr. Da Prat is also a speaker at conferences in the oncology and gastroenterology fields and teaches and mentors in master's and university courses related to these areas.
