Biography
Dr. Simone Luigi Martino Gatti is the Head of the Minimally Invasive Orthopedic Reconstructive Prosthetic and Osteoarticular Therapy Team (PROMETEO) at the Istituto Clinico San Siro.
After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1999, he completed a specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the same university five years later.
He further honed his skills in microsurgery at Microsearch in Sydney, Australia, and participated in the first hand transplant in Italy at the S. Gerardo Hospital in Monza (Prof. M. Lanzetta).
He has experience in trauma surgery at CHBT (Basse Terre, Guadeloupe, France) and S. Carlo Hospital in Milan.
From 2007 to 2023, he practiced clinical and orthopedic surgery at the high-specialization center for hip and knee prosthetic surgery at Istituto Clinico San Siro in Milan (under Prof. Franco Parente), focusing on studying and advancing treatments for related conditions.
In hip surgery, he uses minimally invasive techniques with neck-preserving implants and employs cutting-edge prosthetics made from the latest materials.
In knee surgery, he provides personalized treatments using minimally invasive techniques such as subchondroplasty. For localized damage, he implants medial and lateral unicompartmental prostheses through minimally invasive approaches. For more extensive damage, he uses complete prostheses and performs prosthesis revisions in cases of wear or component damage.
From 2013 to 2020, he was also the Head of Knee Pathology at the National Center for Osteoarthritis (CNA) in Monza, where he gained additional experience in conservative osteoarthritis treatments using innovative strategies and techniques, including stem cell injections.
Since 2024, he has led the Minimally Invasive Orthopedic Reconstructive Prosthetic and Osteoarticular Therapy Team (PROMETEO) at the same institution.
