Santo Raffaele Mercuri
Dr. Santo Raffaele Mercuri is the Head of the Department of Dermatology at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan and also the Visiting Professor for the Master’s Degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.
He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Messina, where he also completed a specialization in dermatology and venereology with honors.
During his career, he taught at the Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan, under the Master’s programs in Medicine and Surgery, Dental Hygiene and Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics. He teaches at schools of specialization in pediatrics and infectious and tropical diseases for the same university. From 2013 to 2015, he lectured at the continuing education courses in pediatric dermatology at the University of Parma and at the second level specialization and master’s courses at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.
He takes part in the scientific activities of various research groups of specialists from different universities in such areas as innovative treatment of vitiligo, the use of new ablative and non-ablative laser techniques in the treatment of skin diseases and the study of the etiopathogenesis of psoriasis in its clinical variants. Dr. Mercuri is also the principal investigator and the Scientific Director of multicenter clinical trials and observational studies.
He is the author and co-author of over 60 articles published in national and international journals, as well as numerous chapters in books. Since 2011, he has been an expert of the Supreme Council of Health on Dermatology. He is also the Head and the member of the Board of Directors of the Lombard regional division of the Association of Dermatologists of Magna Graecia and the member of the Scientific Committee of the Milan Society of Aesthetic Medicine.
