Biography

Dr. Vittorio Sala is a physiatrist in the Rehabilitation Department of the Istituto Clinico Beato Matteo.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia in 2009 and earned his specialization with honors in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine from the same institution in 2015.

After passing the state exam, he was admitted to the School of Specialization in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Pavia. During his specialization, he attended numerous courses, including the European School in Marseille and the Euro-Mediterranean PRM School in Syracuse.

Dr. Sala has worked in Pavia at Policlinico San Matteo, the Maugeri Foundation, and the Santa Margherita Geriatric Rehabilitation and Care Institute.

He currently serves as a specialist physiatrist in the Rehabilitation Department of the Istituto Clinico Beato Matteo, where, in addition to his work in the department, he also conducts outpatient specialist activities.

He performs physiatric consultations, including clinical evaluations and the development of individualized rehabilitation plans.

Dr. Sala's goal is to ensure maximum patient autonomy through rehabilitation, helping them recover lost or diminished abilities due to acute illnesses or trauma. He also focuses on maintaining or improving functions that may decline due to chronic diseases.

In the rehabilitation department at the Istituto Beato Matteo, they specialize in functional recovery following major orthopedic surgery (such as hip and knee replacements or osteosynthesis after lower limb fractures).

In collaboration with neurologists, they address the functional recovery of patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, gait disorders, ataxia, and neuropathies.

In collaboration with oncologists, they work on the recovery and maintenance of functionality in cancer patients. Additionally, in partnership with internists and cardiologists, they handle respiratory rehabilitation for patients with COPD or acute respiratory failure following heart failure.

Rehabilitation is provided in different settings depending on the patient's needs and the progression of their condition, ranging from inpatient care for the immediate post-acute phase to outpatient care for continued therapy.
