Biography

Dr. Rosvaldo Villani is a cardiologist and consultant at the Cardiology Unit of the Istituto Clinico Beato Matteo in Vigevano.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1982 with a score of 110/110 and later specialized in Internal Medicine in 1987 at the University of Pavia, achieving a score of 50/50. Following his specialization, he completed practical hospital training in the Cardiology Division of the Civil Hospital of Vigevano, U.S.S.L. 78, in Lombardy.

From 1983 to 1986, he served as a voluntary internal physician in the Cardiology Division, focusing on dynamic electrocardiography and cardiac electrophysiology techniques. His subsequent roles included:

  • Assistant physician in the General Medicine Division at the Galliate Hospital (NO), U.S.S.L. 52, in Piedmont.
  • Assistant physician in the General Medicine Division at the Mortara Hospital (PV), U.S.S.L. 78, in Lombardy.
  • Staff physician in the General Medicine Division at the Galliate Hospital (NO) and the Cardiology Division of the Civil Hospital of Vigevano (PV), where he worked in the Echocardiography-Doppler laboratory and then in the Electrophysiology laboratory and permanent pacemaker implantation.

In April 1992, he spent time learning cardiac ablation techniques at the Electrophysiology laboratory of the Health Sciences Center at the University of Oklahoma under Dr. W. M. Jackmann. In 1996, he worked at the Hemodynamics laboratory of the Cardiovascular Division at Maggiore Hospital in Novara, acquiring coronary and vascular diagnostic techniques. Since January 1997, after the establishment of the Hemodynamics laboratory at the Vigevano Hospital, he has been regularly performing coronary diagnostic procedures.

Until February 2016, he served as a Level I Executive at the Cardiology Division of the Civil Hospital of Vigevano, part of the Hospital Company of the Province of Pavia. From 2016 to 2018, he was the acting head of the Cardiology Unit of the Civil Hospital of Vigevano. He then became a Level I Executive at the Cardiology Division until 2019, after which he has been a consultant at the Cardiology Unit of the Istituto Clinico Beato Matteo.

Dr. Villani’s clinical work primarily focuses on clinical cardiology, echocardiography, and non-invasive cardiac diagnostics. He has published scientific papers in national cardiology journals and presented communications at major Italian cardiology conferences. He has also co-authored the book "Clinical Electrophysiology" by Capella-Rauhe-Sanna, published by Piccin in 1999.
